rc nitro airplane flight time?

it is a .46 os engine with a 24 oz fuel tank and im 40 miles from denver the mile high city im planning a long rang bombing run on my friends house i havent flown with this engine. his house is about 10 miles away there is usaly a strong wind comming from his house so i could go to quarter power on the way back not to mention it will be about 1.5 lbs lighter ps it is a custom plane no specific brand or model

About 3 years ago, I sent an RC Nitro Airplane into the air… I haven't seen it since.

Turn Revell plane model into rc plane?

Was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to turn a Revell plane model… like a P-51 Mustang for example… into a fully functioning RC plane? Obviously I would need motors, servos, a receiver/ transmitter.. and other parts… but i was just wondering if it would be possible for an airplane model to fly.

The aerodynamics is just not there. Control surfaces like elevator and rudder need to add for 3 channels RC the third channel for engine throttle. The 4th channel is used for ailerons for more maneuverability. So when you start adding in the electronics battery, servos and hardware to make it all work the heavy plastic model becomes even heaver. RC airplanes are very light construction and today some of them are made of EPO foam a more durable form of (Styrofoam). Its light and you can find warbirds, jets and many different trainer aircraft in the ready-to-fly RC airplanes. Still others are made from balsa wood is used to build a skeleton of the wings and body of the aircraft. Then they are covered with a thin iron on plastic they also keep the weight down.

It being electric should prove thatt it is, in fact an rc plane. Unless it's a plane shaped lamp or even a plane model shaped hairdryer.

Model airplane questions?

I have decided that model airplanes are really cool. Especcially the battles… So I was wondering. What size plane do I use? A big one? A small one? Also were is there a place were I can compete with others in Tucson, Az? What will I have to sign up for? And last question. What are the rules of battle? Remember model rc airplanes. Thanks!!!
Usually air combats we use small park flyers. Reason being
1) Rc planes are not toys, they can cause substaintial injury or damage if mishandled. The larger it is, the more injury it can cause.
2) air combats has high chance of damaging the plane. Larger one cost more. Small cost aint cheap either.

Try looking for a local club to learn how to fly one first. Read up at the rc forums.

Rc model air plane building help?

I had this idea to make a remote control model airplane but I have no idea how to build it or what materials to use, I wanted to make a uav looking plane, and was thinking of making it out of styrofoam or some other cheap material in case it breaks, Think budget build for this, any help is welcome
I also want to be able to attach a camera to take stills and live video feed

First off, lots of budget kits are available for almost any type of aircraft, and there are quite a few for UAV-type planes as well. You'll find almost any aircraft online to order. If you're really intent on building it yourself, rather find a good set of plans to work from. Remember that in model a/c building, you still have to think about full-size aircraft details like aerodynamics, lift/weight ratios and the like. If you have zero experience with aero engineering or scratch building aircraft, I would not recommend building something from scratch with your own design. No offense meant at all. You can find a lot of free plans online, in most good model aircraft magazines, and also from most decent hobby shops. As for materials, your best bet is foam, but not the packing foam variety. Your local hobby shop should point you in the right direction in terms of buying foam for an aircraft. Alternatively, balsa wood with a harder wood frame is also a cost effective option.

EDIT: As for the camera, small, lightweight cameras made for model aircraft are available that can take stills and video. If you go for the higher end models, the resolution is normally full HD.
