are glow engine RC model airplanes being replaced with electric?
I have been flying model airplanes for over 15 years , and I noticed since new battery and motor technology is so much cleaner and powerful that the fellas in my club are gradually switching over to electric RC planes. is this true. do you think someday glow engines will be obsolete?
i wouldnt call it obsolete they are just making nitro and electric for peoples taste there people thinking electric is better and faster but thats not true nitro is always gonna be faster but there one thing electric is more cheaper than nitro

Not entirely. There will always be some that like the sound and smell of a nitro engine. The electrics are gaining popularity because they are simpler to get in the air. Plus, the price of nitro fuel at from $20 to $30 a gallon is not helping the nitro flyers..
The electrics have one major drawback and that is that the batteries have been known to start serious fires. Guys cars and vans burning to the ground, garages catching on fire, and so on. The Academy of Aeronautics has issued a warning about charging the batteries.
I am switching to larger models and using gasoline engines. I don't like the risk of charging those powerful batteries and I am use to handling gasoline.

Well, from a different angle, it certainly isn't in the rc car side of life. Brushless electric and lipo setups will give as much, if not more power, than a correctly set up nitro engine. However, as someone else said; theres nothing quite like the smell, sound, and general fun of a nitro engine.
