No. The old radio transmitter license was done away with quie a few years ago. But, please ensure the aircraft is on the 27 or 35 mHz waveband to be legal.

If you are flying it from a private field then you only need the landowners permission. If you fly from your local park, you had better check with the local council. As most of them today have banned flying on there amenities, the ones that do allow it will insist that you have accident insurance cover and will usually restrict the times you are allowed to fly. Its a sad situation that was brought about by the local village idiots showing off and others who needlessly used very large, and very, very loud unsilenced engines. The flyers of old when I was a lad mainly used rubber powered aircraft, with the odd flyer using a small diesel engine. Its a shame really that the younger lads will probably never ever get the chance to build and fly their own model aircraft, due to the decline in green fields and the ever growing demands on the few remaining parks in the cities. I wish you well and a 2 mph breeze. Stay well away from power pylons or you radio will screw up on you.
